Bantams end poor home run

Bradford halted a run of four home league games without a win as two goals in three minutes secured them a deserved 2-0 victory over bottom club Crewe.

Bradford dominated the first half, forcing 12 corners without being able to pierce a Crewe defence that had conceded 27 league goals before this game.

Aaron Mclean and Billy Clarke had shots cleared of the goalline as the home side kept the visitors penned in their own half for long spells.

Home goalkeeper Jordan Pickford produced two fine saves to deny Chris Atkinson and George Cooper before the Bantams broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute.

Mark Yeates' teasing cross from the left deceived the visitors' defence and Mclean beat Crewe goalkeeper Ben Garratt to the ball to divert it into the net.

Gary Liddle doubled the home side's lead two minutes later with a well-struck right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area after Filipe Morais had pulled the ball back into his path from the by-line.
