Barnett spoiler at Valley Parade

Shrewsbury fought back to earn a point in a 1-1 draw at Bradford in front of a bumper crowd with a goal a minute after half-time from Tyrone Barnett.

After a scrappy, largely uneventful first half, Bradford deservedly went in front two minutes before the interval with a goal created and finished by Billy Clarke.

He burst down the middle before playing the ball out to the left, where summer signing Steven Davies returned it into the middle for Clarke to score with a close-range shot.

Clarke and defender Alan Sheehan went close to scoring three minutes earlier when striker James Hanson headed the ball down to Sheehan, whose low shot hit the post and rebounded to Clarke, who shot into the side netting.

Newly-promoted Shrewsbury equalised within a minute of the restart to silence most of the 18,039 in attendance.

Barnett chased a long ball out of defence and, when Rory McArdle made a challenge, the visiting striker's shot rebounded off the Bradford defender and back off himself before spinning into the net past goalkeeper Ben Williams.

Bradford went closest to scoring a winner, but lost Clarke, their most creative player, through injury in the 65th minute and were unable to pierce the visitors' defence.
