The 20-year-old only made his first-team breakthrough in October, but went on to win the club's player of the year award in an outstanding first season and has since been offered a new deal. O'Brien, who has received no rival offers, told the T&A: "I've got my contract through now and I'm discussing it with my family at the moment. "I would love to stay on, but I've got to go through it with them first. There's no deadline or anything from the club. It's up to me to go in and get it sorted out whenever. "I've just been away for a family holiday to chill out a little but I'm discussing it all now and we'll see." Defender Matt Clarke and winger Joe Colbeck have yet to sign their new deals to stay at Valley Parade.
