Young close to Cherries comeback

Bournemouth defender Neil Young is happy to be winning his battle to overcome a long-term ankle injury.

The 30-year-old has been out for more than five months due to the problem, but netted in a midweek reserve defeat by Yeovil Town to show his progress.

He told the Daily Echo: "It was good to be back.

"I was feeling a bit tired in the second half but I have been training for a couple of weeks now, so I don't think I am that far away from being 100 per cent.

"I was pushing on in the second half to try and get my fitness levels up more than anything.

"Hopefully I can get back in the team before the end of the season but if not, I can look forward to next season."

Young was an unused sub for the Cherries' 3-0 victory at Rushden & Diamonds last weekend.
