Bournemouth's bid to secure a top-six finish has been hit by the news that James O'Connor is facing a six-week lay-off with a hand injury.
The former Aston Villa trainee, who has not missed a League game this season, severed tendons in his right hand after falling on a glass at home and Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll is not expecting to see him back in action in the near future.
"He has been pretty unlucky really. He slipped at home and he's cut his hand pretty badly," O'Driscoll told the Daily Echo.
"As a result, he suffered a deep cut and has severed two flexor tendons in his right hand. It is a freak accident and you have no control over these things.
"It is a blow to lose him because he has been playing really well, but it is one of the few areas where we actually have a bit of cover."
