Bournemouth defender Warren Cummings has failed in his appeal against the red card he picked up in last month's defeat at Colchester United.
The Scot was sent off for stamping on Karl Duguid but Cummings insists he is innocent as he prepares to serve a three-match ban.
"I'm gutted," he told the Bournemouth Echo.
"I was hopeful rather than expecting anything because I know how these things work and it's very rare that the FA goes against the referee's decision.
"I'm disappointed because I know I didn't mean it, but obviously they have taken the view that it wasn't an accident and that I did mean it.
"I feel hard done by because it wasn't intentional so to miss three games feels very harsh."
