Bournemouth defender Warren Cummings will be sidelined for six weeks after it was confirmed that he will have surgery to remove a plate in his left leg on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old Scot missed the whole of last season with a broken leg but returned to action this term and had been a regular in the Cherries rearguard.

Meanwhile, striker Conal Platt has joined Conference side Morecambe on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old, who came on as a substitute for the Shrimps on Saturday as Sammy McIlroy's side beat Gravesend & Northfleet 1-0, has made only one substitute appearance for Bournemouth, in this season's Carling Cup defeat to Southend United.
