Cooper snubs Hoops move

Bournemouth defender Shaun Cooper has admitted that he snubbed the chance to join QPR in order to stay at Dean Court.

The 22-year-old, who only joined the club on a three-month contract following a successful trial last summer, was last week linked with a move which would have seen him join the Loftus Road outfit for the rest of the season, but he has vowed to stay put.

Cooper feels he will continue to progress better with the Cherries and is due to put pen-to-paper on an 18-month deal.

He told the Daily Echo: "There was a bit of interest from them, but I'm definitely going to sign here.

"In a way I was tempted, but deep down, staying here is the right decision and I was always going to sign if I got offered something.

"I want to stay because I'm learning a lot under Richard [O'Kelly] and Sean [O'Driscoll] and I'm enjoying playing here.

"They gave me a chance to get back into football. I didn't have anywhere to play and I feel like I owe them, so staying here was always the right decision."
