Claridge handed Cherries chance

Bournemouth are poised to hand Steve Claridge a short-term deal meaning the veteran striker could make his 1,000th professional appearance this weekend.
Cherries boss Kevin Bond is keen to add some experience to his attack and has made moves to land the 40-year-old frontman on an initial one-month contract.
That means Claridge - who has played for 17 different league clubs during a 22-year career - could reach the milestone when Bournemouth face Port Vale on Saturday.
Claridge has been looking for a new club after being released by Bradford City in the summer.
"I've spoken to Steve and he said he would like to come on board," Bond told the Bournemouth Echo. "He will give us another option.
"I've worked with him before and he's as fit as a fiddle and takes a great deal of pride in how he looks after himself.
"He has trained with us and you wouldn't have thought he had been away. At anything like his best, he's a real handful."
