Pilgrims target Vaughan

11 Sep 2006 - 14:48:36

Boston United boss Steve Evans has approached Chester City in a bid to sign Blues skipper Stephen Vaughan on loan.

The 21-year-old has been criticised by City fans this season, with his father the chairman of the Deva Stadium club.

That has prompted Evans to try and tempt Vaughan to York Street, as he told the club's official website: "I spoke to Chester City on Sunday and we will see where it goes.

"There is no doubt that he would strengthen our team and I am pleased that, despite a severe lack of resources, the chairman and directors understand the situation.

"If the loan deal goes ahead and Stephen Vaughan does well, we will certainly be looking to make it a permanent move."
