Boston United's ten-point deduction for entering administration will come into immediate effect this season, the Football League has confirmed.
The Pilgrims were handed the penalty after entering a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) during the final-day defeat at Wrexham which also confirmed their relegation to the Conference.
The ruling means Steve Evans' side will now begin next season in the Conference on zero points.
"The Football League can confirm that Boston United have been deducted ten points from their points tally for 2006/07," confirmed a league statement.
"This 'Sporting Sanction' takes effect from April 25th, the date on which the club effectively obtained the approval of creditors for a Company Voluntary Arrangement."
Meanwhile, Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney has confirmed he will seek to close the loophole which allows already relegated clubs to effectively avoid punishment at June's annual general meeting.
"The League Board has made the right decision. The original intention of 'Sporting Sanctions' was that clubs should suffer a penalty by going into administration, as a spur to better financial management," he said.
"None of our clubs have done anything wrong but we need to take steps to make these sanctions meaningful."
