Boston United's future is in doubt after the club's application for a new ground was rejected by the local council.
The Pilgrims are desperate to leave their York Street ground and chairman Jim Rodwell thinks the club's immediate future is now "hanging in the balance".
A statement on the club's official website said "The club's future is ultimately now in the hands of the Inland Revenue, who are owed a sizeable six-figure sum."
Boss Steve Evans added: "Undoubtedly it is a time of uncertainty for everyone involved with the club, but we're desperate to triumph in adversity and hopefully the lads will produce the goods."
Boston play Chester City in a League Two clash on Tuesday.
