Bosnia register second win over Belarus
Bosnia-Hercegovina beat Belarus 1-0 in qualifying for the 2012 European championships here on Tuesday, their second win over the same opponents in less than a week.
While the 2-0 triumph in Minsk last week was achieved rather easily, in Zenica the situation was different although Belarus had one player - Timofei Kalachev - excluded in the 35th minute and another - Alexander Martynovich - five minutes from the end.
As in Minsk the central figure was again Edin Dzeko, who posed a constant threat to keeper Yury Zhevnov.
The decisive moment occurred in the 87th minute after a 1-2 between Dzeko and Zvjezdan Misimovic, when the latter with a sharp shot in the corner scored the decisive goal.
With Tuesday's win Bosnia-Hercegovina secured second in Group D, one point behind France.
"It was difficult since we were blocked by the imperative to win ... At the end all turned out well, we were awarded for 'dying' for each ball," coach Safet Susic said.
"Now we will try to prepare for France and the match which will decide our destiny," he said.
