Meyer quits Gladbach role

Hans Meyer has left Borussia Monchengladbach following a disappointing Bundesliga campaign.

The experienced coach returned to Borussia Park for a second spell at the helm back in October, but has stood down following their narrow escape from relegation this season.

Gladbach finished just one place above the danger zone and their plight went right to the final day of the season.

"With an almost 67-year-old Hans Meyer it is not possible to build a team," said Meyer.

"I could help them with my experience to stay up. Anything else is not productive, neither for Hans Meyer nor for Borussia."
