Lee banned for kung-fu tackle

Borussia Dortmund full-back Young-Pyo Lee has been handed a two-game ban by the Deutsche Fussball Bund (DFB) for his kung-fu tackle on Energie Cottbus' Savo Pavicevic.

It had been thought that the 31-year-old former Tottenham defender would be suspended for three matches following his red card but the DFB have shown a little leniency.

Lee was dismissed for the stoppage time incident as Dortmund drew 1-1 with Cottbus on Sunday.

The disciplinary commission accepted that the South Korean "wanted to get to the ball and actually made contact with it before contact was made with his opponent."

Lee will miss the derby clash with Schalke on Friday as well as next week's game against Hoffenheim.
