Giant-killers Dresden eye Dortmund shock

Giant-killers Dynamo Dresden are hoping to pull off another upset victory in the second round of the German Cup on Tuesday when the second division team take on league champions Borussia Dortmund.

Dresden pulled off the shock of the first round when they fought back from 3-0 down at home to first division Bayer Leverkusen to inflict a 4-3 defeat in extra-time on Michael Ballack's team.

Their reward was to travel to face Bundesliga champions Dortmund at home in the second round and they warmed up with a 2-0 win at Eintracht Braunschweig on Saturday, but coach Ralf Loose said he would swap it for a win at Dortmund.

"I'd have preferred a win at Dortmund, the cash we would earn from winning there would do a lot of good for our club," he said.

Both Dresden's goals on Saturday were scored by Robert Koch, whose two goals helped knock out Leverkusen in the first round.

Dortmund warmed-up for the visit of Dresden with a convincing 5-0 hammering of Cologne at home on Saturday in the Bundesliga with Poland striker Robert Lewandowski scoring twice to give him seven goals from 10 league games.

But Dortmund captain Sebastian Kehl, who scored the final goal in the rout, said his team will not be taking Dresden lightly.

"It certainly won't be easy," he said. "Dresden have nothing to lose and will want to make a fight of it.

"They are compact and are always trying to counter attack. In our stadium we have to beat them, no ifs or buts, and we will."

In the pick of the other ties, cup holders Schalke are at second division Karlsruhe on Wednesday while Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich host another second division side, Ingolstadt 04, at Munich's Allianz Arena.

In all-first division clashes, Hoffenheim host Cologne on Tuesday, while Hanover play Mainz at home on Wednesday.
