Borussia Dortmund won the German Super Cup by beating double winners Bayern Munich 2-1.
Jakub Blaszczykowski and Tomas Hajnal netted first-half goals for Dortmund in their own Westfalenstadion, with Bayern's lone reply coming 17 minutes from time from Mehmet Ekeci.
Poland international Blaszczykowski opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, finished neatly following Mladen Petric's pass.
Four minutes later Hajnal netted with a 20-yard free-kick which left Bayern keeper Michael Rensing with no chance.
Bayern coach Jurgen Klinsmann had promised before the game that his side would take the game in Dortmund seriously.
He told his club's official website: "It's the first real test of our credentials.
"We want to give a very good account of ourselves and we need to know where each individual stands at the moment."
