Roman Weidenfeller: Borussia Dortmund's record-breaking win not very nice for me

Goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller admits Borussia Dortmund's record-breaking 8-4 Champions League win over Legia Warsaw is not a game he will remember fondly.

Weidenfeller will be Dortmund's first-choice goalkeeper for the next two months while Roman Burki recovers from a broken hand and he admitted it had hardly been the return he had hoped for.

"It was the game with the most goals in history (of the Champions League) and of course it was nice to be in the stadium to witness it, but it was pretty rough for a goalkeeper," he said.

"Thank god we scored so many goals today, but there are other things we should talk about.

"We have got to defend better than this. We are playing in the Champions League and you've got to close the gaps better and be more aggressive.

"Everybody is capable of this and that is what the demands are in the Champions League. You've got to do better than this.

"It wasn't very nice for me. It seemed a bit out of order to me."

Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel also touched on the negatives before seeing the positives of a win which keeps his side top of their group, ahead of their final group opponents Real Madrid.

"I really don't have any idea what that was," he told Sky Deutschland.

"I've never experienced anything like it.

"We've got to defend better than this and I'm particularly sorry for Roman. He's really angry.

"We were dominant from start to finish and I really hadn't expected us to concede four."

Dortmund need just a draw in Madrid to finish on top of Group F, with both they and the defending champions already through to the knockout stages.
