Mats Hummels nets late goal as Dortmund claim Donetsk draw

Mats Hummels grabbed a crucial late equaliser as Borussia Dortmund claimed a 2-2 draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Shakhtar can consider themselves reasonably pleased by their performance considering they are deep in a winter break and have not played competitively since the group stage ended, but having been so close to victory they are now big underdogs heading into the return fixture.

Darijo Srna put the Ukrainians ahead with a sweetly-struck 31st-minute free-kick before the prolific Robert Lewandowski levelled 10 minutes later. Substitute Douglas Costa restored the home team's advantage in the 68th-minute before Hummels handed the Bundesliga outfit a second away goal with a header three minutes from the end.
