German champions Borussia Dortmund have told Japan star Shinji Kagawa he must sign a contract extension by Monday amidst reports he has been offered a three-year Manchester United deal, report Bild.

With his contract set to expire in 2013, German daily Bild report the 23-year-old play-maker, whose 13 goals in 29 games helped Dortmund retain the Bundesliga title, has been given the deadline to sign a deal until 2016.

"The fact is that he has had an offer put in front of him long ago which raises a few doubts, because up until now he hasn't reacted," said Dortmund president Reinhard Rauball.

"It is a good offer! He won't be getting peanuts at Dortmund.

"There still hasn't been contact from another club. As far as I am concerned, nothing has been decided, although I now have a slight tendency towards scepticism."

According to Bild' sources, Kagawa has been offered a three-year deal at Old Trafford, worth around six millon euros per season, and Dortmund risk losing him on a free transfer in a year's time.

Kagawa has been one of the Bundesliga's success stories this season having orchestrated Dortmund's surge to the title and was a bargain when he joined from J-League side Cerezo Osaka for just 35,000 euros in 2010.
