Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich: Complete Match Preview, Line-ups and stats

03 May 2013 14:51

The Champions League final is scheduled to be played on 25th May, but we will have a potential preview of the final this weekend when Dortmund host Bayern Munich at Signal Iduna Park this weekend.

Borussia Dortmund go into this game on a good run of form. Their only defeat in their last ten matches came against Real Madrid. Their last Bundesliga defeat came against Schalke 04, and since then they’ve beaten six opponents.

Domestically, Dortmund have no where near been what they were over the last two seasons. They've dropped points throughout the season - including a 4-1 thrashing at home by Hamburg SV -  and have not been able to pose a threat to the bigger clubs in Germany.

Bayern were also responsible for ending Dortmund’s DFB-Pokal run thanks to a solitary, first-half goal by Arjen Robben.

To turn the tide around, it is very important for Jurgen Klopp and his men to clinch a win. With the future of Robert Lewandowski uncertain and Mario Gotze already on his way to Munich, this is a very crucial time for the club.

Bayern Munich have been in extraordinary form throughout this season. Their last defeat came in March against Arsenal in the Round of 16 of the Champions League but we will have to go all the way back to 28th October 2012 to find their second-last defeat.

Since that 2-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern have played 40 matches in all competitions and their record is phenomenal. They have scored 120 goals in the process and conceded only 20.

Bayern have been that good this season. It seems that gone are the days of the Catalans, it is now time for the Bavarians.
