Jean-Louis Triaud, president of Ligue 1 club Bordeaux, has been fined 12,000 euros by a court here following a collision involving a boat being navigated by him and a jet ski in which a woman was seriously injured.

The owner of the jet ski company who had been supervising the woman at the time of the accident was fined 5,000 euros.

The injured 19-year-old woman remained in a coma for several days after the accident in July 2004.

The Bordeaux boss insisted that at the time of the accident he had not been exceeding the speed limit and had not broken any safety regulations.

His lawyer Francois Tosi told AFP on Monday that his client would be appealing.
