Trotters talk tough on Meite
31 Jul 2008 - 12:22:02
Bolton Wanderers are believed to have rejected a bid of £1.5million from West Bromwich Albion for central defender Abdoulaye Meite.
The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international had a well-publicised fall-out with Trotters boss Gary Megson last season and featured just five times after the turn of the year.
However, Megson still thinks that Meite could return to the fold at the Reebok Stadium and, even if he does leave, the club will hold out for a substantial fee.
A club source told the Bolton News: "The offer is derisory. Abdoulaye is a player with considerable Premier League experience.
"Gary isn't openly touting Abdoulaye for a transfer and will not let him go for anything other than market value."
Meite joined Bolton in the summer of 2006 from French club Marseille and has gone on to score twice in 70 appearances for the Premier League outfit.
