Trotters sign Croatia striker

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Croatia international striker Ivan Klasnic on a season-long loan.

The 29-year-old moves to the Reebok Stadium from French Ligue One side Nantes, after spending most of his career in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.

Klasnic has 35 caps for Croatia after debuting in 2004, turning down an offer to play for Germany despite being born in Hamburg.

Klasnic has an impressive international pedigree, netting 11 times for the Croats.

"Ivan is a player who we have been tracking for quite a while," Trotters boss Gary Megson told the club's official website.

"His goalscoring record is very good and he has an excellent pedigree at international level with Croatia and domestically in Europe."

He becomes Megson's sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Sean Davis, Paul Robinson, Sam Ricketts, Zat Knight and Chung-Yong Lee.
