Trotters settle Cahill fee

Bolton Wanderers are set to win the race for the signature of central defender Gary Cahill, having agreed a fee in excess of £4million with Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old has only recently returned to Villa Park from a three-month loan spell with Sheffield United, who were one of a number of clubs seeking a permanent deal for Cahill.
However, the Trotters are now poised to seal the signing of Cahill, armed with the cash from the recent sale of Nicolas Anelka to Chelsea.
Boss Gary Megson confirmed: "We've been negotiating with Villa for two-and-a-half to three weeks now to try to bring Gary to the club.
"We've finally reached the point where we have agreed a transfer with Villa that they are happy with and we've been given permission to talk to Gary.
"Hopefully we can get it done quickly, but we want to make sure it's done right.
"He's a young lad, he's a good centre-half and he's got an awful lot of improvement still to come.
"He's got pace, quality on the ball and will also score you a few goals during the course of the season."
