Trotters seal Alonso deal

Bolton Wanderers have completed the loan signing of Mikel Alonso, subject to the Spanish midfielder receiving international clearance.

The 27-year-old will join the Trotters on a season-long loan from Real Sociedad with a view to a permanent deal at the end of the campaign.

Alonso, the elder brother of Liverpool midfielder Xabi, impressed Wanderers boss Sammy Lee after being invited to join their pre-season training camp in Austria.

Meanwhile, Lee has rubbished reports linking Leeds United with a move for Lubomir Michalik.

The Slovakian defender spent time on loan at Elland Road last season, but Lee claims he will not be rejoining the crisis-torn League One club.

"The reason Lubomir went out on loan was to gain experience of football in this country," he told the club's official website.

"He's part of my plans for the coming season and he will not be gong to any club."
