New signing Johan Elmander has revealed he opted to join Bolton Wanderers ahead of other interested clubs as he wants to play regular first-team football.
The 27-year-old Sweden international signed for the Trotters from French side Toulouse on Friday and is relishing the prospect of playing week in and week out in the Premier League.
Elmander agreed a three-year contract at the Reebok Stadium following a meeting with manager Gary Megson.
"After all the speculation it feels really good to know where I will play," he told Sportbladet.
"There were other clubs I could have joined and what has been written has been quite correct, but I preferred to play rather than being paid for sitting on the bench.
"It means a lot that he (Megson) took the time to meet me. It was a truly positive meeting.
"He talked about my role and how he wants the team to play. I am extremely pleased.
"I have now found a club who truly believe in me and where I can get a fantastic pay."
