Trotters aim to keep Jussi

Bolton Wanderers' new manager Sammy Lee has admitted that the club are making every effort to keep goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen at the club.

The 32-year-old Finland international has a year of his current deal still to run, but he has been linked with a move to Sunderland this summer.

Lee told the club's official website: "All the time there are movements going on in the background to try and ensure that we get Jussi signed up to the contract he wants.

"We are trying our hardest to make sure we keep possibly the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

"Under the guidance of our goalkeeping coach, Fred Barber, Jussi has got better each year."

Jaaskelainen joined the Trotters in November 1997 for a bargain £100,000 from VPS Vaasa and has gone on to make more than 350 first-team appearances for the club.
