Taylor relishes Bolton move
21 Jan 2008 - 15:25:27
New signing Matt Taylor claims it was an easy decision to make after swapping a place on the Portsmouth bench for a starting spot at Bolton Wanderers.
The versatile left-sided player joined the Trotters last week on a three-and-a-half year contract and made his debut during Saturday's goalless draw with Newcastle United.
Taylor's start for his new club was his first since playing 90 minutes for Pompey during a Carling Cup outing at Burnley in September.
"It was a big decision to move to the north-west but an easy one," he told the club's official website.
"I came down and met the manager and staff and, once I had spoken to those, it was a relatively easy decision to make.
"The facilities and what they are trying to do here, I want to be a part of and I also wanted to get my chance to play football again."
Meanwhile, Taylor hopes to repay the faith shown in him by manager Gary Megson by helping to keep the struggling club in the Premier League.
"The main objective this season is for us to maintain our Premier League status and I would like to be able to do that," he added.
"Looking from the outside in, and from what I learned when we played against Newcastle United, there seems to be a good bunch of lads and obviously it's imperative that we all stick together."
