Bolton Wanderers midfielder Matt Taylor has agreed a one-year contract extension to remain with the Trotters until the summer of 2012.
The 27-year-old joined Bolton in January 2008, having previously enjoyed spells with Portsmouth and Luton Town.
Wanderers boss Gary Megson told the Bolton News: "Matt's agreed to sign an extension to his contract, which he is pleased about, his family is pleased about and obviously we are pleased about.
"Matt's a southern lad, it's his first time up north and he loves it. He thinks he's become an honorary northerner by virtue of the fact he is buying a house here rather than just renting one.
"He seems to be happy here and he has done great for us. He scored ten goals last season and is a big influence with his set-pieces and work-rate.
"Hopefully he can go from strength to strength."
Megson is also confident of agreeing a contract extension with Gary Cahill in the near future.
He added: "We're speaking to Gary about trying to get him sorted, I definitely think he will be here for the long term.
"I have been delighted with him since we brought him here, when he had only played 17 Premier League games. He was all about potential.
"We were in a position where people probably looked at it as being a strange signing, bringing in a young inexperienced player, but he has been terrific."
