Speed vows to bounce back
27 Feb 2007 - 11:05:48
Bolton Wanderers captain Gary Speed is determined to put the poor performance at Tottenham to the back of his mind before the crunch derby clash with Blackburn Rovers.
The veteran midfielder scored Bolton's consolation goal from the penalty spot in the 4-1 defeat at White Hart Lane - a result made worse by the fact that Spurs played for more than half the game with ten men following Robbie Keane's red card.
"When you've had a result, and put in a performance like that, you just want the next game to come as quickly as possible," the former Wales international told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"The sooner that game's underway, the better for us. We've got to make sure that we eradicate the performance at Spurs.
"At the same time, we've got to learn from the mistakes and get a positive reaction. Hopefully we'll get one. In training this week we've got to make sure we put things right for that game.
"It will be a tough game next week. It's a derby game and they don't come any tougher than Blackburn Rovers."
