Shittu hints at January move
23 Jan 2009 - 12:11:19
Defender Danny Shittu could have played his last game for Bolton Wanderers after admitting that he has become disillusioned with a lack of first-team opportunities under Gary Megson.
Newcastle United and Sunderland have both been linked with the 28-year-old former QPR and Watford stopper, who has spent most of this season on the Reebok Stadium substitutes bench.
Shittu told the Bolton News: "The manager told me to be patient and to wait my turn and I think I've done that, but I got my chance just after Christmas and I think I took it.
"Obviously the manager has to manage and team selection is entirely up to him, but I'm still just very disappointed because all I want to do is play.
"I'm 28 years of age and I feel I'm too old and experienced to be sitting on the bench and not be part of it.
"I want to be playing week in, week out, like every player. I feel when I've played for Bolton I've done okay and it was a big blow to be left out against Manchester United."
