Sam slams Anelka talk
24 Nov 2006 - 06:59:37
Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has dismissed talk of a January exit for £8million summer signing Nicolas Anelka.
The 27-year-old France international striker moved back to England from Turkish side Fenerbahce a matter of months ago, but has struggled to adapt to life in the Premiership, sparking talk of a move to Lyon.
However, a defiant Allardyce said: "We have had no contact with anyone about Nicolas. Even if we did, the answer would be no.
"If the president of Lyon did say he was interested in Nicolas without speaking to us, then he is out of order.
"Nicolas' overall contribution has been very good, but because we are not winning matches people are bound to make more of the fact he has not scored."
Former Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City star Anelka has failed to find the net in ten league outings for the Trotters, with his only goal coming in the Carling Cup win at Walsall.
