Reid cleared for Wanderers job
01 Jan 2010 - 13:07:57
Stoke City boss Tony Pulis would not stand in the way of Peter Reid should Bolton Wanderers come calling for his number two.
Former Sunderland and Manchester City boss Reid has been linked with the managerial vacancy at the Reebok Stadium following Bolton's decision to part company with Gary Megson earlier in the week.
The 53-year-old joined the Potters in September following a brief spell in charge of the Thailand national team and Pulis has given Reid his blessing to move on should Bolton come knocking.
He explained: "If Peter came to me and said he wanted to be a manager again, there's no problem.
"If people think there is something out there that was better for themselves, I would always go with them.
"I don't know about the speculation. If it's the case, I would be desperately disappointed if Peter doesn't speak to me first and Bolton didn't speak to this football club first."
Meanwhile, Pulis has revealed that there would be a job at the Britannia Stadium for Megson should he wish to rejoin a club where he coached before taking the Bolton job two years ago.
"Gary is well respected in the game, a good football man. He worked for me here for three months without pay and did everything I asked him to do," added Pulis.
"Gary was here every day and he was exceptional in everything he did.
"If he wants to get his boots back on in time and do some work for me, he would be very welcome."
