Nolan stands up for Diouf
11 Nov 2006 - 10:46:31
Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan has backed team-mate El-Hadji Diouf to overcome recent off-field problems.
Senegal forward Diouf was arrested over allegations of an assault on his wife earlier this week, but Nolan says the 25-year-old will be able to focus on his performances for the Trotters.
Nolan said: "El-Hadji is a very colourful character and you can never take that away from him.
"But he has been fantastic on the training ground and fantastic throughout the season.
"The off-field matters are a personal issue for him, but we are behind him 100 per cent.
"He always seems to rile the away fans, so hopefully he can do that on Saturday by scoring a couple of goals."
Diouf joined the Trotters in the summer of 2004, initially on loan, from Liverpool and has gone on to score 16 goals in 71 appearances for the Wanderers.
