Nolan impressed by Elmander

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan is backing summer signing Johan Elmander to be a big hit for the Trotters this season.

The 27-year-old Sweden international has moved to the Reebok Stadium from French club Toulouse for a fee of around £10million, with Nolan backing Elmander to be as important for his side as Nicolas Anelka was before he left to join Chelsea in January.

"Johan is more of a link-up man than Nic. He is good in the air and has a good eye for goal in and out of the box," Nolan said.

"We are not putting pressure on him to come in and take over from Nic, we are putting pressure on him to go out there and do what he does best.

"I think we will get a lot of benefit from Johan this season and he will score quite a few goals for us."
