Nolan calls for Bolton funds

Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Nolan has urged the board to back manager Gary Megson with funds during the January transfer window.

Megson has led a resurgent Trotters side to ninth place in the Premier League table at Christmas and Nolan is keen for the upward momentum to continue.

"We want to see another £10-15million get spent," Nolan told the Bolton Evening News.

"It freshens up the whole of the dressing room and brings competition for places.

"You can't rest on your laurels. We're trying to rebuild after Big Sam's (Allardyce's) era and I'm really positive Gary Megson can do that.

"Hopefully he'll get the financial backing in January. It would be nice to see new faces."
