Nolan backs under-fire Megson
28 Oct 2008 - 08:51:52
Bolton Wanderers midfielder Kevin Nolan insists all the club's players are behind beleaguered manager Gary Megson.
The Trotters boss was barracked by Bolton fans during Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Tottenham, a result that left the club only one place above the relegation zone.
However, club captain Nolan believes Megson is the right man to lead Wanderers to better times, saying: "The lads were a bit gutted over the abuse.
"But I suppose the fans have paid to go to London so they've got a right to sing and say whatever they want.
"But as a player and as captain, I can say that all of the players are right behind the manager.
"It was always going to be a tough game coming to Spurs but we've struggled a bit and the fans' reaction should be thrown at us as players, too. We're all behind the gaffer."
Megson replaced Sammy Lee in the Reebok Stadium hot-seat almost exactly 12 months ago and helped the club avoid the drop last term by taking 11 points from their last five matches.
