Megson wants strong finish
10 Apr 2009 - 11:57:25
Manager Gary Megson has warned Bolton Wanderers against resting on their laurels, despite appearing to have secured their Premier League status for another season.
Last weekend's 4-1 victory over Middlesbrough moved the Trotters up to 12th place in the table and saw them equal last season's points tally of 37.
But ahead of Saturday's trip to Chelsea, Megson has warned his players against thinking their ambitions for the season have now been reached.
"It is nice to be at this point, but if we don't win another game all season there has not been any progress," he told the club's official website.
"I'm sure that will not be the case, but we do want to keep going on and we want to take the club forward and not just on the pitch.
"We haven't bought our way into any progress. I think we have in total spent £1.5million to get where we are in terms of players that have come in and gone out. The wage bill is also way down now to what it used to be.
"There are a lot of things that the football club can be pleased with, but the biggest thing is the points total and we want to keep pushing on."
