Megson wants more goals
21 Nov 2008 - 10:10:29
Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has warned his inconsistent side that their Premier League existence is being threatened by a lack of goals.
The Trotters have scored just 11 times in their 13 Premier League games to date, while £11million record signing Johan Elmander has not found the net since August.
Wanderers find themselves just one point above the drop zone as they prepare to face Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Saturday.
"We're doing okay but I'd like to see us picking up more points from the performances that we're producing," said Megson.
"We've lost too many games this season. We've lost seven games and I would argue that we should have picked up points from them.
"And the two draws we've had, I think we should have won both of those as well.
"But it's nobody else's fault other than our own because we haven't been scoring enough goals.
"The wherewithal and the ability to score goals is there, but you need that desire to score.
"We have players who are capable of getting goals but they're not doing it at the moment."
