Manager Gary Megson is aiming to sign players which can change Bolton Wanderers' style of play this summer.
The Trotters finished 13th in the Premier League last season but Megson has admitted he was less than enamoured by the type of football his side played at times.
"We've got to put emphasis on the quality of the players that we bring in," he told the club's official website.
"I'd like to change the style that we play as I felt that was one of the reasons the club struggled last season.
"We had to take it back a little bit, get the results at times and not play in the way we'd have liked.
"There were some really good performances, but some really dour, grinding performances where we got results. But it was all about getting those results.
"Hopefully we can use this summer to bring in players who can play a different type of game while still getting the results and maybe more of them.
"During the last transfer window, we wanted it to be a lot busier. But January is a really difficult time to sign players because most clubs want to hold on to them.
"The serious work, I feel, in the most important window is going to be this one. We now need to make sure the emphasis is really on bringing them in to help us push on."
