Megson slams Bolton critics
26 Aug 2009 - 09:01:36
Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson hit out at the club's detractors after their 1-0 Carling Cup victory over Tranmere Rovers.
The Trotters reached the third round of the competition after securing their first win of the season courtesy of a Mark Davies goal.
But Megson has been annoyed by the negative press he claims his club has received following back-to-back Premier League defeats at the start of the season.
"For some reason Bolton seems to be viewed entirely differently from the 19 other clubs in the Premier League. We need to change that," he claimed.
"I was watching television today we were described as Bolton who haven't won a game all season. It didn't say the season was nine days old!
"It motivates me and it motivates the players. We have to keep everything within the four walls of the dressing room.
"There isn't a great deal of assistance from anywhere else but we get on with it.
"The players in the circumstances have been fantastic because it is a lot harder for us than most."
