Megson shuns O'Brien loan

Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has refused to entertain loan offers for Trotters centre-back Andy O'Brien.

Middlesbrough are reported to have made an approach for the 30-year-old Republic of Ireland defender, who recently underwent surgery on a hernia.

Megson told reporters: "There's been one or two clubs reported to be interested and I've had a call from one Championship club, but I've told them 'no' and I've told Andy he won't be going out on loan.

"He was having a few (injury) problems, so we've got that done during this period where there are no games.

"Whether it heals in time for Saturday I'm not sure, but if it doesn't it won't be ongoing after that."
