    Megson's keeper compromise

    01 Jan 2009 - 08:39:36

Bolton Wanderers will be without the services of goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi until mid-January due to his international commitments with Oman.

The 26-year-old recently pledged his future to the Trotters by signing a new four-year contract, but a condition of that agreement was that he be allowed to play in the Gulf Cup.

Megson told the Bolton News: "We're delighted that Ali will be staying with us and part of the agreement was that he could go and play in the Gulf Cup.

"It isn't a FIFA date, so it is a favour to the Oman FA and there is a stipulation that the minute we click our fingers for him to come back, he comes.

"It isn't something we'd normally agree to, but sometimes you have to do these things to get to where you want to.

"We were in the situation over the summer that Ali, Jussi Jaaskelainen and Adam Bogdan were all out of contract, so to have them all still at the club is very pleasing."
