Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson praised the performance of Portsmouth goalkeeper David James after the South Coast side won 1-0 at the Reebok Stadium.
The veteran England keeper made a series of superb stops to deny the Trotters, including a world-class block from Tamir Cohen in injury-time at the end of the game.
Megson said after the loss: "I think you can explain it in two words, David James.
"I have not seen us play any better. I have certainly not seen us create as many chances. We looked solid throughout before they scored.
"I would swap with Harry Redknapp obviously, but here I think the only reason we have not won the game is down to one of the best goalkeeping performances that I have seen."
Pompey manager Redknapp added his own tribute to James, saying: "He is an amazing goalkeeper and they were some saves.
"He is different class. He has got more experience and his decision-making is better now than when he was younger.
"I have never seen anybody train as hard as him, ever. He is so dedicated a professional with everything he does. He is amazing."
