Megson hails Taylor strike
29 Dec 2009 - 07:06:42
Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is hopeful that midfielder Matt Taylor will quickly add to his goal in the 1-1 draw at Burnley on Boxing Day.
The 28-year-old has netted just four times this season and was without a goal in his previous eight games before firing home a superb free-kick against the Clarets.
Megson told the Bolton News: "I'm really pleased for Matt. He's had his critics but he's got that quality and that will do him the world of good.
"His ratio of games to goals hasn't been as good as it was last year, but he's got that in his armoury and is capable of doing that.
"He's been getting a little bit of criticism, but he's still got the bravery to take that and it was a fantastic strike.
"He bases his game around getting goals and that will hopefully kick-start his season."
Meanwhile, the Trotters have been linked with a sensational January swoop to sign Real Madrid midfielder Guti.
The 33-year-old former Spain international has become something of a peripheral figure at the Santiago Bernabeu and is reported to be mulling over an offer to try his luck in England.
