Megson fails to land Robinson

Reports suggest Bolton Wanderers could look elsewhere for a new defender after West Brom put a £1million price-tag on Paul Robinson. Trotters boss Gary Megson failed with a £500,000 bid for Robinson last week and is believed to be unwilling to increase his offer. It is thought that Megson may turn his attention towards Hull City defender Sam Ricketts or Middlesbrough's Matthew Bates if he fails to land Robinson. The 30-year-old seems certain to leave The Hawthorns this summer after saying earlier this month that he would welcome the chance to join former Albion boss Tony Mowbray at Celtic. Ex-Watford defender Robinson has spent almost six years with the Baggies, featuring in almost 250 appearances for the club.
