Megson closes in on Veloso

Reports in Portugal suggest that Bolton Wanderers are on the verge of making an offer for Sporting Lisbon youngster Miguel Veloso.

It is believed that the Trotters may be able to bring the highly-rated 23-year-old to the Reebok Stadium for approximately £10million.

Sporting had initially been asking £13million for Veloso but are now believed to be willing to accept a cut-price transfer fee in a bid to improve their current financial problems.

Veloso, who has spent his entire career with Sporting, has been linked with a host of clubs in the past, but had always stayed loyal to the side from the Portugal capital.

He now seems to have changed his stance though, saying recently: "An important offer from a Premier League club would be tremendously attractive."
