    Megson blasts beaten Bolton

    15 Mar 2009 - 11:11:59

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson laid into his side's defending following their 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Fulham.

The Trotters gifted their visitors all three goals at the Reebok Stadium, with Andy O'Brien and Gavin McCann guilty of individual errors that proved decisive.

A furious Megson said after the game: "You can't defend at any level - never mind this one - like that at all.

"It wasn't a case of defending badly as a unit, individually we've made three errors that have cost us and we also made a couple of errors which we got away with.

"Defensively we were really poor. I feel only Gary Cahill has performed anything like what I would expect - he was okay without being brilliant.

"But I thought a lot of our players, in terms of getting hold of it and passing it, were poor and also the tempo was not what we needed.

"Each of the three goals wouldn't have happened if we'd cleared our lines. I have spoken to them and we need to put a line under it.

"It is a bit galling to get to this stage of the season and have to revisit what we should be doing with experienced players.

"We are all culpable and there is only Gary can honestly come out and say he did okay. It was a poor day for us right the way through."
