Megson aims to keep Jussi
28 Nov 2007 - 11:28:00
Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is hoping to persuade unsettled goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen to remain at the club.
Jaaskelainen is out of contract at the Reebok Stadium at the end of the current season and his agent recently revealed the Finland international was ready to leave on a free transfer.
The club's longest serving player rejected a new contract to remain at the club last summer.
However, Megson is refusing to give up hope of persuading the 32-year-old keeper to stay at Bolton despite continued speculation linking him with Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
There are also several leading clubs across Europe reportedly monitoring his situation.
"Jussi is one of the best keepers in Europe. We'll sit down when the time is right," he said.
Jaaskelainen joined the Trotters in 1997 and has made over 350 appearances for the club.
